Every year I update my social media profile picture. I’ve been doing this for the last 3 to 4 years. Maybe more.

The process is straight forward. At the beginning of the new year, I draw up a new profile picture, usually at an equal sides scale like 2000 x 2000, scale it down to something like 500 x 500 and upload it to all of my social sites like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Dribbble as well as my website. A few years back I realized it was a smart move to keep your profile picture consistent throughout all of your social sites so as to make it easier for followers to spot you.

I intended to do the same towards the beginning of this year but I didn’t have it in me and I don’t tend to push these things as the profile picture doesn’t only serve to identify me, but it also represents my current art style. For the past few years it’s been reflective of my cartoony style. So this year, since I’ve just begun my realistic art challenge, I’ve decided to throw caution to the wind and I’ve drawn a profile picture which is far from the cartoony style everyone’s used to seeing. It’s a bold move. I’m bitting my nails. And wow, I’m so serious. But, it’s a statement to my commitment to this challenge.

As all of my previous work, this was created on the iPad Pro in Procreate.

Thanks for reading!
